What is an Energy Savings Program?
Utility companies such as gas and electric producers are mandated by the government to assist with increasing the proliferation of high-efficiency lighting and HVAC equipment. This is needed because the rate of increase in energy consumption in the United States is outpacing the rate of demand. If energy consumption were to exceed demand, our everyday lives would change rather dramatically.
To reduce overall demand, utility companies provide incentives to businesses that replace old equipment with new high-efficiency products, or install high-efficiency products on new construction. Most states have enacted laws prior to 2010 and you can find the line item expense on your utility bill.
Are you selling energy; do I switch utility companies?
No. We do not sell energy and we're not trying to get you to convert.
What's the catch?
The U.S. energy demand is outpacing supply & the most cost-effective approach is to reduce energy demand. To encourage small businesses to upgrade energy technologies, utility company programs are available to upgrade your lights and install energy-saving HVAC equipment.
Does my business qualify?
If you received our information, your business likely qualifies. There are incentive programs available right now through your utility company. We can tell you what your business may qualify for at your assessment.
What will this cost me?
The Energy Assessment is free and is a required step in the process to find out how much the utility company and/or State incentives will cover. We typically find that incentives and discounts cover about 75% of the total installation cost.
Incentive amounts vary based on products required and the type of installation. Most businesses see up to 75% savings with incentives. Additional savings may come from tax incentives. On occasion, some customers see greater than 75% cost savings. The math is easy: if a project were to cost $5000 without incentives, a business may expect to see out-of-pocket cost between $1250 and $2500. Plus, installing high-efficiency products immediately reduces a company's utility bill.
How much will my utility savings be?
Savings depends on the types of lights you have and what we can replace them with. Lighting bill savings can be in the 50% or greater range for most commercial environments. Lighting usually contributes about 15-30% of total energy expense for commercial buildings. That portion can be cut dramatically. Your Energy Assessment will include a quick ROI calculation based on the operating hours for each area.
